Youth Training & Education

A cornerstone of the Boy Scout programs is training. There are many opportunities available to youth at various levels to further develop. Some of these trainings will be conducted in your unit; others are available for you to work on by yourself.  Some of them:

  • Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
  • National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
  • Kodiak Challenge

Adult Training & Education

Every Boy Deserves a Trained Leader

Adult leaders in Troop 567 are required to achieve the Trained designation.

Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed:

  • Fast Start: Boy Scouting
  • This is Scouting
  • IOLS (Outdoor training)
  • SM/ASM Leader Training
  • Youth Protection

Troop committee members are considered trained when they have completed:

  • Fast Start: Boy Scouting
  • This is Scouting
  • Troop Committee Challenge
  • Youth Protection

In addition, the following courser are highly recommended if you plan to go camping with the troop:

  • Physical Wellness
  • Safe Swim Defense
  • Safety Afloat
  • Weather Hazards
  • Climb On Safely
  • Trek Safely

Advance Adult Training:

  • Wood Badge –  Wood Badge is the premier leadership training program for all Scout leaders in the Boy Scouts of America. This includes all Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity and Venturing Leaders, District and Council Committee members as well as Professional Scouters. Wood Badge is designed to train adult volunteers using the latest leadership skills and techniques. It is once-in-a-lifetime training experience.

The troop also plans trips to HIGH ADVENTURE CAMPS. These are meant more for the older boys, due to the age requirement of 14 years or older. If you are planning in joining the Troop in any of these trips, additional adult training and certification may be required:
